Species 8472 originate from another dimension known as fluidic space. They are highly advanced and use sophisticated biological technology. They are extremely aggressive and are considered a serious threat to all other races.

Biology:
Species 8472 are tri-pedal, vaguely humanoid lifeforms that originate from another dimension known as fluidic space. They average between 2.0 to 2.5 metres in height with a mass of 125 kilograms and are immensely strong. Species 8472 possess long range telepathic abilities and emit a bio-electric field around their bodies. Their immune system is highly effective and destroys any foreign organic or artificial matter that it encounters. Species 8472 have incredibly dense DNA that requires genetic material from each of five sexes for reproduction. Despite their robust nature, their life spans are relatively short averaging between 30 and 40 years. In regular space, Species 8472 can inhabit Methane gas giants with minimal disruption to their systems.

Society:
Species 8472 have a highly disjointed culture with individual factions controlling different regions within their native Fluidic space. There are few established administrative facilities and no formal regulations governing behavior. Individuals carry various dispositions from serene to aggressive, and even malevolent. Species 8472 maintains a survival of the fittest mentality. The highly evolved form of Species 8472 requires little in terms of resources, so most economic and industrial activities are isolated or poorly developed.

History:
Species 8472 remains the only highly developed life form in their dimension and have seen a long history of conflict between various factions. A repelled incursion into fluidic space by the Borg Collective resulted in a military alliance of most factions and a first strike policy in normal space against the Borg and other races they encountered. Despite the success of their initial strikes, recent developments have forced Species 8472 back to fluidic space for the time being.
