Description: An honorable race of worriers,
Thanks to Kwayne for the race portraits and Spearman for the bio.
Biology: The Karpoozi are a humanoid race that has two distinct classes: Kaimahi (workers) and Kairakau (warriors). Kaimahi are generally shorter and stockier - ideally suited for heavy labour. The Kairakau are taller and more slender. Swift, lithe and startlingly powerful, these Karpoozi warriors excel in the martial arts and make fearsome enemies.
Society: Karpoozi society is a kind of reverse Feudalism. Kaimahi provide room and board for warriors, who in return provide protection. These warriors devote their life to two things: training of the body through martial arts, and training of the mind through study of "The Way of Honour." This sacred masterwork, written by the great warrior Kawharu, has been the basis of Karpoozi society for over 3000 years. They did not require a leader, and still do not have one. When they began to move into space and meet other races, the Kairakau chose an ambassador to represent them. This humble servant of all the Karpoozi will not even use his own name, introducing himself instead with "I speak The Way of Honor. I speak for the Karpoozi."
History: The reverse Feudal system has been operating for all of recorded history, Thousands of years ago, farmers would hire a single warrior to protect his farm. As villages grew, groups of warriors were hired to protect the expanding population. In time these warriors became the police of larger towns and cities as well, but they always remained humble servants of the people, as their sacred book required them to be. They strive always for peace, and fight only for honour. The Karpoozi hate dishonor, their song-stories tell that the Kairakau make war against "Teka tapeha" (dishonorable ones) until they are utterly destroyed. A wise leader will remember this when dealing with the Karpoozi.
