Curious as to the logic here... troops tech 1 gives you a 9kT size troop and troops tech 2 gives you a 3kT size troop and troops tech 4 only a 4kt size I believe.. why the decline in size with higher tech research?

Infantry and Mechanized Troops/etc. are different kinds of units, serving different functions. Size isn't everything here; infantry are cheap and good for soaking up lots of damage, troop vehicles (mechanized, battle mecha, air support) are good for dealing lots of damage.

Smarter than your average Texrak.

Indeed. The heavier tanks, though, can be obscenely tough. Mind you, I do tend to set out rather armour-heavy unit designs. Wink

Troop vehicle armor is rather expensive per kiloton; the advantage of infantry is that they are very cheap hit points. You can spam out a ton of infantry to drop with your first wave of transports, then have a smaller number of heavy vehicles for damage dealing in the next wave.

Smarter than your average Texrak.
