I've been playing with troop ides to create Infantry markers in an attempt to make ground combat a little more involved. there is a thread or two about (HeberMagalhaes is working to improve ground combat, he has the lead).
Well, anyway here is my troop idea, haven't tried animation yet, but will check to see if SEV has that option.

The barrels (and turret, for that matter) also look rather large. I would suggest shrinking them down a bit and making them evenly sized (in terms of width/height) then it might make a nice AA tank. Alternately, drop it to two barrels and have a heavy tank.

I like the AA tank, or even the heavy tank idea.
Another Idea would be to take a page out of the MAss Effect book. Use something like the Mako. Not exactly like it but something close to it. I mean that the idea of it in the game was quite cool. I can get you some pictures and a video if you want a better image at what is going on in my head.

That is COOL, why don't they have that game for PC!!?!?! RPG Sci-Fi, its what I like in a game!!!
Sorry,...I got some good still shots of the Mako Combat Vehicle, its now the Colonial Heavy Troop (Or will be, maybe the terran), thanks zephey

No Problem. Mass Effect is one of my favorite games ever, though I must admit Bioware making it was the main reason I got it. Bioware made Knights of the Old Republic.
But alas, MAss Effect kick's ass. And I thought that the Mako would be a nice addition to the BSG team.
Ohh and be patient. Wait a year and oyu shall have it on te PC.

Mako APC mesh renders, no textures yet, that takes more time...
I know I have a little fixing of some of the dimensions and underbelly alignment, but I only spent about an hour on the mesh.
edit: Did some quick base texturing with minor detail. Still have to adjust the nose some and add some more block detail.

Looks awesome. The nose looks a little long,maybe shorten in a little bit, other wise it looks great.
The only other thing I can suggest would be to make the barrel of the cannon about a third shorter then it is.

I have to hand it to the guys that do really good textures, they are SO much harder than the model!

Looks great, the gun looks to be the right length. The nose of the vechile looks a little longer, try to make it about a 1/6 shorter and and a 1/6 taller/thicker.
As an exaple if a rectangle is 6 in long by 2 in high, make the rectangle about 5 long and about 1.67 in high. I hope my example makes sense.
Though it looks great as it is, it just seems that the nose looks a little long, Maybe a side veiw of the Mako might help a little bit.

I shrunk the nose and tightened up the profile. Still have some texturing to do for more detail, but its good enough for SEV..

Wathog could be a light Troop. Anyway, it would be easier to make a roof for it than put troops into it.

That APC I posted in other topic as proposition for medium troop is an UNSC APC from Halo Wars.

Didn't know it had a roof! Would have saved soo much work on the seat textrues Definitely will make it enclosed, looks better that way. I may still try the soldier placement, see if it looks cool or not.

If I remeber my Halo right, they haven't shown a Warthog with a Roof yet, however, adding the roof is a great idea, for the shipset it works great. Oh and for the gun on the back, you don't have to have it mounted, it could be like 50 Cal. on the Army's Stryker's. Controlled from the inside of the vechile.
And Iso, I will send the things tomarrow, I haven't had much time today to work on it.
