I usually play my stock games in a small galaxy (20-35 stars w/10 players) with a unit limit of 5k and a ship limit of 500. I was going to do the same with my new Adamant mod game, again in a small galaxy (20-30 stars w/6 players), but when I went to create the game I noticed that the default numbers were much higher than stock.
Why would you WANT a arbitrary limit placed on the forces ay your disposal? That said, this isn't a mod I've actually played, but its the principle of the thing. I had to ask, it wasn't meant as a personal insult or anything. dumbluck

Not a problem; that's a fair question. Limits create opportunities for strategy. Can you mine every sector of a system with 100 mines? Or do you need to pick and choose the most efficient use of your limited resources? Honestly, I can't remember the original reasons that led me to this choice, but I do remember some problems in early games that had all players agree to the new limits. Perhaps it's more of a problem in smaller games.
