Due to the plethora of monsters BK has made, I am going to be making two separate monster races. One is "nautical" themed, with the kraken, jellyfish, whale, etc., and the other is more generic catchall. Might also have a few neutral monster races that focus on one type of monster, like the asteroid one.
You can copy them into your Adamant\Pictures\Races folder and use them now, if you want.
So, what do we think of the monsters in Adamant? Too strong? Too weak? Do they need tweaking? Any general ideas to improve them, while I am at it? Smarter than your average Texrak. Back to top

One note, I added two more images for you to use as drones - the Kamikaze Trilobite was intended for your nautical theme, and the Death Moth for the other.

One more quick addition, just for the fun of it.
I compiled a list of Japanese movie monster name and put them together as a design name file. The greater majority are from the "Classic" Toho monster movies, but some others are included as well, such as a few from the "Ultraman" movies.

IMO, they need tweaking. I think there aren't enough monster sizes as go betweens, and they certainly need fleshing out a bit as far as types and weapons go. As far as I can tell, monsters seem powerful enough as they are.
Also, I've long been contemplating a "Monster Tamer" kind of race for Adamant. They would have weaker versions of the monsters at their disposal, alongside normal ships. The monsters would make up the brunt of an attack force, but naturally be limited in what they can do, potentially by mounts. Likewise, the normal ships would be limited to more "civil" roles - transporting goods and dropping troops and so on. Unofficial Adamant 0.16.xx Bug Hunter Back to top
In early game, monsters destroy everything in their path. They're generally running position 1 and 2 for at least the first half of the game. Generally you're best of avoiding them, and any colony they happen to fly past might best be considered doomed.
More then once I've had to restart a game because I started in the middle of monster territory and just couldn't leave my homeworld without all of my ships being destroyed... colonizing was just impossible.
Ow, and they open up loads of warp-points, making an utter mess of the galactic overview.
Maybe you should tone them down a bit during very early game, to give players a chance to build ships that can match a Monster... Back to top
